Describe an occasion when you spent time with a child
I’m going to talk about an occasion when I spent a memorable day with my nephew, Minh. Minh is an energetic and curious eight-year-old, and spending time with him is always a delight. This particular occasion was during the summer holidays when I decided to take him on a day trip to the zoo.
Firstly, we started our day early in the morning. Minh was brimming with excitement because it was his first visit to the zoo. As soon as we arrived, his eyes lit up at the sight of the entrance adorned with colorful banners and animal statues. Naturally, our first stop was the primate exhibit. Minh was fascinated by the playful monkeys swinging from branch to branch. He asked numerous questions about their behavior and diet, showcasing his inquisitive nature.
In addition, we attended a live animal show where trainers demonstrated the abilities of various birds and mammals. Minh was thrilled when a parrot flew over the audience and landed close to us. The excitement in his eyes was unmistakable, and he couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the day.
For lunch, we enjoyed a picnic in a shaded area of the zoo. Minh helped set up the blanket and unpack the food, feeling very grown-up. We chatted about his favorite animals and what he wanted to see next. His enthusiasm was contagious, making the experience even more enjoyable for me.
As the day came to an end, we made a stop at the souvenir shop. Minh picked out a small stuffed tiger to remember his first zoo visit. On our way home, he fell asleep in the car, clutching his new toy, exhausted but clearly happy.
This occasion strengthened our bond and created lasting memories, reminding me of the simple joys of life and the importance of nurturing a child’s sense of adventure and learning.

Describe a person who impressed you the most when you were in primary school
I’m going to talk about a person who left a significant impression on me during my primary school years. This person was my fourth-grade teacher, Mr. Hoang.
Mr. Hoang had an aura of enthusiasm and passion for teaching that was immediately evident. He had a unique ability to make every subject interesting, whether it was math, science, or literature. His classes were never dull; he often used creative methods to engage us, such as storytelling, hands-on experiments, and educational games. This made learning not only effective but also immensely enjoyable.
In addition, Mr. Hoang was an excellent role model. He demonstrated the importance of integrity, hard work, and kindness through his actions. I remember one particular incident when a classmate was being bullied. Mr. Hoang handled the situation with such wisdom and empathy, teaching us the importance of standing up for one another and showing compassion. His impeccable moral character was something that I, and many of my peers, aspired to emulate.
One of the most memorable projects we did under Mr. Hoang’s guidance was a science fair. He inspired us to explore topics we were passionate about, and I chose to study the lifecycle of butterflies. His support and excitement for my project made the experience unforgettable. He even helped me create a small butterfly habitat in the classroom, which fascinated not only me but also my classmates.
In conclusion, Mr. Hoang impressed me the most during my primary school years due to his exceptional teaching skills, his ability to connect with and care for his students, and his admirable character. He instilled in me a love for learning and a sense of curiosity that has stayed with me throughout my life. His influence went beyond academics; he shaped us into better individuals, and for that, I will always be grateful.

Here in Vietnam, academic achievements are highly valued, so parents take great pride when their children succeed in their studies or gain recognition in extracurricular activities.

Parents are made proud by their children’s accomplishments, whether academic, artistic, or athletic. Acts of kindness and integrity also fill parents with pride, as these reflect the values they have instilled. Vietnamese, family values and respect for elders are important, so children demonstrating these qualities also bring pride to their parents.

Yes, rewarding children for positive actions can be very beneficial. It reinforces good behavior and motivates them to continue acting positively. Từ vựng:
Do you think there is a difference between boys’ and girls’ games?
Historically, there have been differences in the types of games boys and girls play, with boys often gravitating towards more physical or competitive games and girls towards social or creative activities. However, these distinctions are becoming less pronounced as societal norms evolve. Today, children of all genders enjoy a wide range of games, and their preferences are more influenced by individual interests than by gender. In Vietnam, you’ll see both boys and girls playing sports, engaging in crafts, and participating in educational games equally.
Từ vựng:
Should there be different games for different genders?
Ideally, there shouldn’t be a strict separation of games by gender. Children should be encouraged to explore a variety of activities based on their interests and abilities, not their gender. This approach promotes equality and allows children to develop a broad range of skills. In Vietnam, as elsewhere, it’s important to provide a diverse array of activities that cater to all children, helping them discover their passions and talents without gender bias.
Từ vựng:
Do you think it is better for children to play with their parents or with their friends?
Both types of play are important for a child’s development. Playing with parents can strengthen family bonds and provide children with guidance and security. In Vietnam, a balance of both is often encouraged, with family time being highly valued and social play being seen as crucial for personal growth.

Who express themselves better, children or adults?
Children often express themselves more freely and honestly than adults, as they are less concerned with social norms and judgments. They tend to communicate their feelings and thoughts directly. However, adults generally have better-developed language skills and emotional intelligence, which can lead to more nuanced and context-aware expression. In general, I’d say the way people express themselves evolves with age and experience.
Từ vựng:
Should we encourage adults to learn from children how to express their feelings?
Absolutely, adults can learn a lot from children about genuine and unfiltered emotional expression. Encouraging adults to embrace this openness can lead to more authentic interactions and better emotional health. In Vietnam, where respect and harmony are culturally significant, finding a balance between honest expression and cultural norms can improve communication and relationships.
Từ vựng:
Is it helpful to exporess our feelings?
Yes, expressing our feelings is crucial for mental and emotional well-being. It helps us process our emotions, reduces stress, and fosters better relationships through clear communication. In Vietnam, while there is a cultural tendency towards emotional restraint, more open expression is increasingly recognized as important for personal and social health.
Từ vựng:
Why do some people refuse to express their feelings?
Some people may hesitate to express their feelings due to fear of judgment, rejection, or vulnerability. Cultural norms and personal upbringing can also play a significant role, as some societies value emotional restraint and stoicism. In my opinion, this can be seen where maintaining harmony and avoiding conflict are often prioritized, leading individuals to keep their feelings private.
Từ vựng:
Why do employers employ people who are empathic to other people’s feeling?
Employers value empathy because it enhances teamwork, communication, and customer relations. Where community and collaboration are highly valued, having empathetic employees can significantly contribute to a harmonious and effective workplace.
Từ vựng:
How can employers assess if somebody is empathic?
Employers can assess empathy through behavioral interviews, where candidates are asked to describe past experiences demonstrating their empathy. Psychometric tests and role-playing scenarios can also provide insights into a candidate’s ability to understand and respond to others’ emotions. In Vietnam, references and feedback from previous employers or colleagues are also commonly used to gauge a candidate’s empathetic qualities.
Từ vựng:
Is it good to make choice determined by emotions?
Making choices based on emotions can be beneficial, as it ensures that our decisions align with our values and feelings. However, it’s important to balance emotions with rational thinking to avoid impulsive decisions that might not serve our long-term interests. In this modern age, where decisions often consider both rationality and emotional harmony, finding this balance is key to making wise choices.
Từ vựng:
Who do you feel you can get along with better, teenagers or children?
I personally find it easier to get along with children, as they are often more open and uncomplicated in their interactions. Teenagers, on the other hand, are navigating a complex phase of self-discovery and independence, which can sometimes lead to more challenging interactions.
Từ vựng:
How do teenagers treat the elderly in your country?
In Vietnam, teenagers generally treat the elderly with a great deal of respect and reverence. However, with modernization, there are occasional generational gaps, but the core value of respecting the elderly remains strong.
Từ vựng:
Do you think teenagers behave better today than they did in the past?
It’s a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, teenagers today have more access to information and education, which can lead to more informed and considerate behavior. On the other hand, they also face different pressures and distractions, such as social media, which can sometimes lead to less respectful behavior. In Vietnam, as elsewhere, the behavior of teenagers can vary widely, but many still adhere to traditional values of respect and courtesy.

Do you think children should have a lot of toys?
Having a moderate number of toys can be beneficial for children’s development, as it encourages creativity and imagination. In Vietnam, traditional toys that encourage outdoor play and social interaction are often preferred, promoting a balanced and active lifestyle.
Từ vựng:
At what age can children make decisions on their own?
Children can start making simple decisions on their own as early as 7 or 8 years old, such as choosing their clothes or deciding on their hobbies. As they grow older, around their teenage years, they should be encouraged to make more significant decisions, like managing their homework or planning their social activities. In Vietnam, the approach is similar, with parents gradually giving children more responsibility to help them develop independence.
Từ vựng:
Do you think that parents should make decision for their children?
Parents should make decisions for their children when they are young, to ensure their safety and well-being.
